Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been earned on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former number one, has had a torrid period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's initial trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface since that period of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has won 21 victories at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my children together, so to win a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his last six championship matches, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and play aggressively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first tour championship, gained dominance to create a third set.

The opponent saved 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
